Bernard C. Fortuyn (1954) was appointed Chairman of the Board of Supervisory Directors and the College of Delegate Supervisory Directors of GasTerra B.V. on 12 February. In both positions he succeeds Stan Dessens, who carried out these roles from 1 September 2007 until 1 October 2017.
Mr. Fortuyn is an experienced executive. He has held various senior positions in a number of industrial firms operating in the fields of oil and gas extraction, industrial gases, engineering and the production and distribution of conventional and sustainable energy. Until his retirement in 2017 he was a member of the Board of Management of Siemens Nederland B.V. He is currently involved in a planning and preparatory capacity in the ongoing merger between TNO and ECN. He also holds various commissioner posts, and has held others in the past.
Bernard Fortuyn says that he is delighted with the appointment: ‘The energy and gas sectors are facing major challenges in the years to come. As Chairman of the Board of Supervisory Directors of GasTerra, I look forward to being able to make a contribution to the success of a company that plays a key role in the Dutch energy supply and energy transition.’ Annie Krist, CEO of GasTerra, emphasises: ‘Our Board of Supervisory Directors, acting as the representative of our public and private shareholders, works with the management to determine how we fulfil our central position in the Dutch energy supply. We are therefore pleased to be bringing Bernard Fortuyn on board as another experienced executive who has well and truly proved himself in the energy and gas sector.’
