Energy transition

Energy transition has always been a key component of GasTerra’s business strategy. We knew right from the start that gas production in the Netherlands could not go on forever. Where initially the main focus was on saving energy and, therefore, gas, later it became clear that natural gas, a relatively clean fuel but still a fossil fuel, had to be replaced by sustainable alternatives as soon as possible and responsibly.

As meeting ambitious Paris climate targets with sustainable sources (such as wind and sun) alone is impossible, we will soon have to produce considerably more green gas and develop an infrastructure and market for sustainable hydrogen. Over the years, GasTerra has facilitated and supported various projects in these areas; often alone but even more often with others.
