Energy Academy Europe

The Energy Academy Europe (EAE) in Groningen is a leading educational institute where energy-related education, research and innovation meet. GasTerra, Energy Valley, the University of Groningen and the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen all work closely together within the EAE, the goal of which is to ensure that the Netherlands and Groningen in particular acquire a prominent position in the field of energy and renewable fuels.

The EAE's foremost themes are system integration and the role of gas (including biogas and green gas), future energy supplies (wind and solar power), energy efficiency and savings, smart grids and CO2 emission level reduction. The EAE is open to all individuals, organisations and companies that want to work towards a reliable, sustainable and affordable energy supply.

The Energy Transition Center (EnTranCe) is the EAE's research facility.

Companies, research institutes and students work here in partnership to make innovations in the field of power generation, distribution and transmission viable options. GasTerra has installed fuel cells and high-efficiency eco-boilers at this test bed to study the integration of these energy systems at a micro level (iHome) and a meso level (iBalance).

In addition to the research being carried out at EnTranCe, GasTerra also supports the development and introduction of innovative gas applications at several other locations.

Energy Valley

Energy Valley is a public-private partnership (PPP). It is a foundation that stimulates, activates, facilitates and connects companies, knowledge institutes and government organisations in order to set up joint projects and to initiate clean, reliable and innovative energy solutions. With its energy-related activities in the north of the Netherlands, Energy Valley aims to establish a hub of national and international excellence.
